Queensland Outback Homestead.

A homestead on a grazing property in central Queensland. Freestanding rammed-earth walls stand out from the house, each cut with a long horizontal slot that frames the plain beyond.

The material is the ground it sits on. Against bleached native grassland the walls do the work of a garden — framing a view, giving the house somewhere to look.
